Open...
Opens an ASL-Filerequester in which you can select
a new file.
§
About...
Opens a window which shows the name of the
program, version and programmer.
§
Info...
Opens a window which gives information about
the loaded file, what packer was used (if the
file was compressed with XPK or PowerPacker),
the packed length, the unpacked length, the
ratio and information about chip- and fast-
memory.
§
Quit
If MIndicator was started from the Shell or as
default tool, then MIndicator terminates.
If MIndicator was started from the Workbench, then
the Quit window appears and asks you, if you want
to close only the MIndicator window or if you want
to terminate the program.
§
Load...
Opens an ASL-Filerequester in which you can select
and load the preferences file. The chosen settings
will be active immediately.
§
Save
The preferences file Standard.MIPrefs will be
saved in the directories ENVARC:MIndicator/ and
ENV:MIndicator/.
§
Save as...
Opens an ASL-Filerequester in which you can save
the preferences file. The suffix .MIprefs will be
added if it wasn't entered.
§
Formfeed
Here you can select, if a formfeed is necessary
or not.
§
ESC-Tabs
Here you can select, if ESC-Sequences and tabs are
shown or not.
§
Tabs
With this menuitem you can choose the tabwidth.
§
Publicscreen...
Shows a list of all open public screens. You can
now select the screen on which the MIndicatorwin-
dow should be opened. The windowheight and the
windowwidth depends on the selected, visible
screenarea.
§
Guideindicator...
Opens an ASL-Filerequester in which you can select
the indicator for .guide-files.
§
ASC-Editor...
Opens the ASC-Editor window in which you can
change the ASC-editor and the parameters.
§
Gadgetfont...
Opens an ASL-Fontrequester in which you can select
the font for the gadgets.
§
ASC-Textfont...
Opens an ASL-Fontrequester in which you can select
the ASC-font for the text. You may not select a
proportional font.
§
HEX-Textfont...
Opens an ASL-Fontrequester in which you can select
the HEX-font for the text. You may not select a
proportional font.
§
Print...
Opens the Printer window in which you can change
the printer options and start the printing.
§
ASC-Edit...
Starts the chosen ASC-editor with the parameters.
The ASC-editor may not detach, when the editing
text will be shown.
Attention!!!
If it's a packed file you have to use an ASC-
editor that is able to unpack the file. Other-
wise you will only get strange characters.

ASC » HEX
You can switch from the ASC-display to the HEX-
display.
§
HEX » ASC
You can switch from the HEX-display to the ASC-
display.
§
Search
Opens the Search window in which you can enter the
searchword and change other options.
§
Next
Searches for the next item. If the next item was
found, it will be marked. If no item was found, a
window appears and informs you.
This Gadget is selectable if a searchword is
inserted.
§
Previous
Searches for the previous item. If the previous
item was found, it will be marked. If no item was
found, a window appears and informs you.
This Gadget is selectable if a searchword is in-
serted.
§
Filename
Shows the name of the loaded file. If the name is
too long the filename will be split.
§
Vertical Slidergadget
With this gadget you can scroll the text only one
line at a time (arrows), pages (click below or a-
bove the scroll bar) or independent (click on the
scroll bar and move). This only works if the text
is longer than one screenpage.
§
Horizontal Slidergadget
With this gadget you can scroll the text one
letter (arrows), pages (click left or right of
the scroll bar) or independent (click on the
scroll bar). This works only if the text is
wider than one screenpage.
§
Publicscreens
Here you can select the public screen on which
MIndicator will open its window. The windowheight,
the windowwidth (only the visible area) and the
windowdepth (colors) depends on the selected
screen.
§
Okay
Uses the settings you made before and
close the window.
§
Cancel
Closes the window without using the settings
you made before.
§
Print Quality
With this gadgets you can select the printing
quality. You can select between Draft or NLQ.
§
Typeface
With this gadgets you can select the typeface.
You can select between Pica, Elite and Condensed.
§
Print Spacing
With this gadgets you can select print spacing.
You can select between 6 or 8 lines per inch.
§
Left Margin
In this gadget you can enter how many letters
the left margin will be indented.
Minimal values for DIN A4:
Pica: 1
Elite: 1
Condensed: 1
§
Right Margin
In this gadget you can enter the number of the
last letter that is printed.
Maximum values for DIN A4:
Pica: 80
Elite: 96
Condensed: 133
These values may vary from printer to printer.

Top Margin
In this gadget you can enter the value of the
lines which will be leaved out before the first
line will be printed.
§
Bottom Margin
In this gadget you can enter the value of the
lines which won't be printed at the bottom.
This is interesting for users who use fanfold
paper.
§
Paper Length
In this gadget you can enter the value of the
lines which can printed on your printer.
Guidenumber for DIN A4:
6 lines per Inch: c. 68 lines
8 lines per Inch: c. 90 lines
These values may vary from printer to printer.
§
File
If you select this gadget, the file will be
printed.
MIndicator remembers the settings you made and
you can save these settings in the preferences
file.
§
Screen
If you select this gadget, the screen will be
printed.
MIndicator remembers the settings you made and
you can save these settings in the preferences
file.
§
Cancel
If you select this gadget, the window will be
closed and MIndicator won't remember the set-
tings you made.
§
Default
If you select this gadget, the window will be
closed and MIndicator remembers the settings
you made and you can save these settings in the
preferences file.
§
Headline
In this gadget you can enter the text for the
headline which will be printed on every page.
Known variables which can be used:
#f# = filename of the printfile
#d# = printdate (depends on the country)
#t# = printtime (depends on the country)
#p# = pagenumber
If you don't want to print a headline, leave
the gadget empty. (No linefeed)

Footline
In this gadget you can enter the text for the
footer which will be printed on every page.
Known variables which can be used:
#f# = filename of the printfile
#d# = printdate (depends on country)
#t# = printtime (depends on country)
#p# = pagenumber
If you don't want to print a footre, leave
the gadget empty. (Full paper length)

Abort
With this gadget you can stop the data transfer.
But the data that has already has been sent to
the printer will still be printed.
§
Searchword-Textgadget
In this gadget you can enter the searchword.
§
Okay
With this gadget you start the search. If the
item was found, it will be marked. If no item
was found, a window appears ans informs you.
§
Cancel
With this gadget you can leave the Search window
without searching. The searchword won't be took
over.
§
Always from the Beginning
Click on this gadget to select/unselect it. The
search begins always from the beginning or at
the current position, no matter where the text-
beginning is.
§
Distinguish Capitalization
Click on this gadget to select/unselect
case-sensitive searching.
§
Okay
Close the Search window which was shown if
the search word wasn't found.
§
Program
With this gadget you can tell MIndicator that
you want to terminate it.
§
Window
With this gadget you can tell MIndicator that
you only want to close the main window. The
AppIcon stays on the Workbench.
§
Password-Textgadget
In this gadget you can enter the password which
will be used to encode this XPK-packed file.
§
Okay
With this gadget you confirm the password and
close the window.
§
ASC-Editor-Textgadget
In this gadget the name and the path of the ASC-
editor will be shown. You can also change this
name and this path with the keyboard.

ASC-Editor-Parametergadget
In this gadget you can input the parameters for
the ASC-editor which will be handed over.
§

With this gadget you open an ASL-Filerequester
in which you can select the ASC-editor.

With this gadget you can close the ASC-Editor
window and MIndicator remembers the selected
ASC-editor and parameters.

With this gadget you can close the ASC-Editor
window and MIndicator won't remember the se-
lected ASC-editor and parameters.

Opens the Goto window in which you can enter the
line from where the text would be shown.

In this gadget you can enter the value of the
line from where the text would be shown.

Okay
With this gadget you can close the Goto window
and MIndicator jumps to the entered linenumber.
§
Cancel
With this gadget you can close the Goto window
without changing the view.
§
HEX-Editor...
Opens the HEX-Editor window in which you can
change the HEX-editor and the parameters.

HEX-Edit...
Starts the chosen HEX-editor with the parameters.
The HEX-editor may not detach, when the editing
text will be shown.

With this menuitem you can set up the startmarker
for the areaprintoption (first visible line).

Endmarker
With this menuitem you can set up the endmarker
for the areaprintoption (last visible line).
§
Marked
Print out the area you marked with start- and
endmarker.
MIndicator remembers the settings you made and
you can save these settings in the preferences
file.
